International Holocaust Remembrance Day was observed all over the world on 27th January commemorating the tragedy of the Holocaust that occurred during the Second World War. It was designated by the United Nations General Assembly resolution 60/7 on 1st November 2005 in the 42nd Plenary session. The largest Nazi concentration and death camp, Auschwitz-Birkenau was liberated by the Red Army on 27th January 1945.
