Which soil have more water holding capacity?

The clay soil particles has a much larger surface area than that of loamy, sandy and fine sand particles. This larger surface area of the clay soil allows the soil to hold greater quantity of water than other soil rypes. Hence, clay soil has more water holding capacity.
